Tom Hardy recently appeared on Alan Carr's Channel 4 talk show Alan Carr: Chatty Man, which airs in the UK (Thanks to for the heads up). The actor talked for the first time about playing Bane in Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, and while he didn't have a whole lot to say about the plot of this highly anticipated sequel, he did drop a few hints at what we can expect.

Tom Hardy stated that this version of Bane will be a lot more threatening.

"Have you seen Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin? Doesn't look very menacing does he? Christopher Nolan will revisit the character so I wouldn't go by that at all. I'm going to need to bulk up a lot for it. That's a lot of weight to put on and I've got to start shooting in May. I've got to go up to about 13 or 14 stone. I'm 12 and a bit now, so I only have a few months to do that."

Tom Hardy was then asked if he would don Bane's gimp-style luchadore mask in The Dark Knight Rises.

"Only if I feel like it!"

The entire Tom Hardy interview will be available tomorrow at the official Alan Carr: Chatty Man website.
