Tom Hardy recently appeared on Alan Carr's Channel 4 talk show Alan Carr: Chatty Man, which airs in the UK (Thanks to Batman-News.com for the heads up). The actor talked for the first time about playing Bane in Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, and while he didn't have a whole lot to say about the plot of this highly anticipated sequel, he did drop a few hints at what we can expect.

Tom Hardy stated that this version of Bane will be a lot more threatening.

"Have you seen Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin? Doesn't look very menacing does he? Christopher Nolan will revisit the character so I wouldn't go by that at all. I'm going to need to bulk up a lot for it. That's a lot of weight to put on and I've got to start shooting in May. I've got to go up to about 13 or 14 stone. I'm 12 and a bit now, so I only have a few months to do that."

Tom Hardy was then asked if he would don Bane's gimp-style luchadore mask in The Dark Knight Rises.

"Only if I feel like it!"

The entire Tom Hardy interview will be available tomorrow at the official Alan Carr: Chatty Man website.
