Things are always changing in the MCU world, but when Venom: Let There Be Carnage pulled the rug out from under everyone by delivering the Sony Universe based anti-hero into the path of Tom Holland’s MCU based Spider-Man in the film’s post credit scene, questions were immediately raised over when this would lead to a full crossover between the two Marvel characters. While all of that is still for the future, it seems that Venom star Tom Hardy was much closer to the MCU than fans could know when he filmed the epic, universe-breaking scene for his second outing as Eddie Brock/Venom. Please be aware that this article contains potential Spider-Man: No Way Home spoilers.

While discussing Spider-Man: No Way Home with CinemaBlend, Tom Holland revealed that Hardy actually filmed his post-credit scene on the set that was being used for the new Spider-Man movie, meaning that Venom and Spider-Man have already been closer to each other than anyone could have suspected off screen than they have so far on screen. Holland explained:

"I was on set, Amy Pascal came over to me and had a conversation about it. I was very excited. Tom Hardy came to set only a few days later to film his side of the Venom tag."

Obviously there have been more rumors about Spider-Man: No Way Home than there are hours in the day to list them all, but nestled in among them have been a number of suggestions that Venom will feature in the film in some capacity. Now that it is known that Hardy was on the set during filming, it seems that this could either confirm his involvement or completely debunk it. If Hardy was only around to film his Venom: Let There Be Carnage scene, then that means he had no other reason to be there and his filming was nothing to do with No Way Home directly. However, the flip side of this is to ask if Hardy would have been shipped in to the set just for that one scene, which for those who have now seen it will know saw Eddie Brock sitting in a room on a bed when what we now know to be Doctor Strange’s spell rips through the world and delivers Brock into the MCU? There was nothing special about the scene that needed Hardy to actually be on the same set, so did he actually record more than is being revealed.

New rumors have begun circulating, suggesting that Venom will appear in the post-credit scene of No Way Home, and will be seen being returned to his own universe but not before a small part of the symbiote is left behind to develop another version of Venom within the MCU. If this scenario plays out, then it also would suggest that Doctor Strange manages to undo at least some of the spell he casts that opens up the multiverse, and that would seem odd considering where the Doctor is heading next in the MCU’s ongoing narrative. All on that rumor will soon be revealed, and with the movie arriving in some parts of the world tomorrow, it may be best to avoid social media for as long as you want the secrets of the movie to remain intact.
