Tom Hiddleston is back filming the new season of Loki, but in a recent interview, the Marvel star recalled what it was like filming the original season during the Covid pandemic. While it was believed at the time that Loki would be a limited series, a second season was confirmed with a small line of text in the credits of the last episode. Hiddleston has now recalled the way everyone came together during the filming of Loki, and how for a long period of time the only people he had contact with were the rest of the cast and crew. He told Gentleman’s Journal:

"On the last day on set of Loki‘s first season, after the very last shot, we all, without instruction, seemed to stand in a circle — with nowhere to go, with the job done, and clapped. It’s hard to describe the feeling of relief, of the gratitude we felt for each other, for every member of our cast and crew. Filming had been interrupted by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic one third of the way into our planned schedule — we locked down for five months — and we restarted after that first hiatus to resume exactly where we had left off, and to finish the story.

For the next twelve weeks, everyone working on Loki was in a contained bubble. And finishing those last months was, for most of us, during that time, our only human contact. On that last day, we had made it through the pandemic and told our story, before any vaccine against Covid-19 had been made available, and with a company, a cast and crew, who — in my experience — supported each other with a spirit, care and kindness in a way I have never seen before. ‘Whatever happens to this series’, I thought, ‘whichever way it goes, the making of it was meaningful. There is meaning in the doing’."

As expected, Tom Hiddleston has returned to his role of Loki for the filming of season 2 of the Disney+ show. Recent photos from the set have shown Hiddleston and co-star Owen Wilson, who will be reprising his role as Mobius, although it is not clear which version of Mobius it will be considering where season one ended.

In the last moments of Loki’s first season finale, Loki returned to the TVA to find much had changed, including the appearance of a huge statue of Kang The Conqueror, and the fact that Mobius didn’t recognize who he was. How this will all be resolved in the opening of season two is something that is being kept under wraps for now, and this is just one of the mysteries surrounding the show, which is expected to return to Disney+ sometime next year.

As one of the most-loved characters in the MCU, Loki’s return is certain to pull in a huge audience when it debuts, and with the series already being one of the most-watched series on Disney+, there are few who would bet on this being Hiddleston’s last appearance as the God of Mischief.
