It doesn't seem like Tom Holland is saying goodbye to Spider-Man just yet, but when that time comes, he hopes to pass on the webs to a more "diverse" replacement. With Spider-Man: No Way Home hitting theaters this month, Holland will have starred in three of his own Spidey solo movies after first making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are already early plans of him starring in a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies so chances are he's going to be here for a while.

With that said, the 25-year-old doesn't want to be playing Peter Parker forever. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Holland spoke about his Spidey future, and he first addressed just how important this role has been to him. Even so, he'll be happy to pass it on to the next person when the time comes for him to hang it up. As the actor explains:

"Maybe. We'll see. I love this character more than anything. This character has changed my life. I have a relationship with my fans that is so wonderful and I couldn't ask for it to be any better, but I want to do what's best for the character. If it's time for me to step down and the next person to step up, I'll do so proudly."

These comments follow similar sentiments recently expressed by Tom Holland. As he was unsure of his own future in the MCU, Holland suggested Miles Morales could take over as the MCU's Spider-Man. Miles currently serves as the main character in the animated hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its upcoming sequel, but many fans are waiting for him to make his live-action debut in the MCU. Speaking with AP, Holland now teases he could end up passing the reins over to a Spider-Woman, showing that bringing Miles Morales isn't the only option for Marvel Studios once Holland's time is up. Ultimately, Holland is just hoping to see the Spider-Man universe get more diverse.

"I'd love to see a more diverse Spider-Man universe which would be really exciting and If I could be the Iron Man to the next young Spider-Man or Spider-Woman, that'd be great. But at the moment, all I have to think about is what's best for the character and what's best for Peter Parker."

For now, fans can appreciate Holland in the role. He will be seen on the big screen this month in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a sequel that's going to be smashing all kinds of records when it comes out. It was recently reported that he's in talks with Marvel and Sony to develop another trilogy of Spider-Man movies, and while nothing is set in stone at this point, chances are high that we'll be seeing a lot more of Holland in the role. It's got to come to an end eventually, so we'll see what happens when another Spidey comes slinging his or her way in.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere in movie theaters on Dec. 17.
