Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland wants to see Andrew Garfield return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 just as much as everyone else. Speaking with Phase Zero, Holland praised Garfield’s comeback in the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, paying particular attention to the real-world ramifications of his return, and how this goodwill could be continued in a standalone sequel.

"I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3. I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back."

The consensus has always been that Andrew Garfield was perfectly cast as Peter Parker, but simply starred in less-than-perfect movies. This was proven true in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as Garfield was able to present a depiction of the character that fits well with the Marvel source material while adding his own spin. Clearly, his stellar work as a variant Peter Parker has amazed not only the fans and the studio but co-star Tom Holland as well.

Since stepping back into the fray courtesy of the multiverse, Spider-Man fans have wondered whether Sony will bring Andrew Garfield back for more in a third installment in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. While nothing has been confirmed so far, Andrew Garfield has himself stated that he would be on board for more. "I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right," Garfield said when asked about a potential The Amazing Spider-Man 3. "Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.

Aside from hoping to one day sit down in a theater to watch The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Tom Holland has also backed the idea of more team-ups involving both his, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Men. "Could it happen? Of course, it could happen," the actor said, eagerly. "We've done it once before. Will it happen? I don't know." While he does stipulate that he does not know whether there will be more Spider-Verse shenanigans or not, Holland is clearly on board with the idea. Should a threequel to The Amazing Spider-Man come to fruition, could we see Tom Holland's Peter Parker paying a visit to the Andrew Garfield-led franchise next time around?

Outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland will soon lead another major tentpole project in video game adaptation, Uncharted. Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, and based on the video game series of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, Uncharted finds Holland as aspiring adventurer Nathan Drake. Partnering with Victor "Sully" Sullivan, the duo must go up against a wealthy, ruthless treasure hunter and his mercenaries in order to claim a lost fortune in gold from the voyages of Magellan, while also tracking clues that may lead to Drake's long-lost brother.

Uncharted is scheduled to be theatrically released by Sony Pictures Releasing on February 18.
