Rumors have abounded across the internet that Tom Welling, star of the CW's Smallville, has signed a deal to appear in the Justice League of America movie. Recently, such rumors had even stated that a deal had been worked out for Welling to take a leave of absence from Smallville to work on the film.
According to an interview with Justice League On Film, Al Gough, the producer of Smallville says that there has been no such deal worked out.
"There have been many rumors circulating over the past few weeks about Tom Welling's involvement in the Justice League
movie," Gough continues. "I can tell you that neither Miles, myself, nor Warner Bros Television have been approached by WB Features about this film. The last time I checked with Tom's agent, he said they had not been contacted about this project at all. We have a very cordial relationship with both Warner Bros Features and DC Comics, and in all of our discussions over the past few weeks on Smallville
business, THIS HASN'T COME UP ONCE. So, there you have it from the horse's mouth -- or ass -- given some of the message board postings I've seen about myself!"
While it is understandable that the fans want to see Welling continue on in the role of Clark Kent past the ending of Smallville, it seems that for now, there is little hope for seeing Tom Welling in the cape and tights of the Man of Steel.
