Earlier this month, word leaked that Sony was eyeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley as their new Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Turns out that's very true. THR caught up with the actress at the Empire Awards this weekend. She sounds very optimistic about taking on this iconic video game character. And her hope is to land as many jobs as possible in the coming years. She explains.

"[There] have been conversations. I'm waiting for someone to say 'I want you, let's do it'. Absolutely, I'm trying to fill up my calendar."

Daisy Ridley nabbed the award for Best Female Newcomer at the Empire Awards this past Sunday, which were held in London. While she has been in talks for Lara Croft, Sony has not yet made the actress an offer for this impending Tomb Raider reboot, which will be directed by Roar Uthaug. At this time, there is no script for the project.

Many believed that the actress was too busy with Star Wars to take the job. Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently shooting at Pinewood Studios in London and various locations around the world. But Daisy Ridley assures that she will have the time to take on an additional role if given the opportunity. Her Star Wars: The Force Awakens co-star John Boyega was also on hand at the Empire Awards last night. He won for Best Male Newcomer. He admitted that he wanted to see Daisy Ridley as Lara Croft.

"I played Tomb Raider the game, it's a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version. But I texted Daisy [and] was like, 'this is you!' and 'you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.' She should be."

Along with John Boyega and Daisy Ridley's two wins, Star Wars: The Force Awakens picked up a total of 5 awards at last night's Empire Awards ceremony. They included Best Director for J.J. Abrams. So, what do you think? Will Daisy Ridley make the best new Tomb Raider?
