Ever since season 4 of Better Call Saul, Lalo Salamanca has served as one of the most ruthless and terrifying villains of the Breaking Bad franchise. Portrayed by Tony Dalton, Lalo makes the rest of the murderous Salamancas look friendly in comparison with just how ruthless he could be when it comes to getting what he wants. Whether it's to get information or to elaborately fake his own demise, Lalo was prepared to callously murder anyone to get what he wants. Still, though he's tremendously sinister, Lalo also had a charming side to him that made him a favorite for many fans.

Picking a favorite scene featuring Lalo might be difficult for the character's fans, and that's also the case for Dalton himself. Speaking about the series in a new interview with DiscussingFilm, Dalton explained how hard it was to name one particular scene as a personal favorite. He compares it to trying to name your favorite film, as there are "different moments" to enjoy. If he were to pick just one particular scene, however, Dalton says it would be from the season 5 episode "Bad Choice Road."

“The part where I’m with Saul and I ask him to tell me again that whole story. That was fun because it was this sort of mind f***, where you’re telling this guy (Bob Odenkirk) who’s the lead, just to repeat his story over and over, see if you can find any kind of differences. There’s a lot of different things that you can play with as far as an actor in that scene.”

Before the scene, Lalo seems to have realized that he's been lied to by Jimmy/Saul about what really happened in the desert. Hoping to get the truth, he visits Jimmy and Kim (Rhea Seehorn) at their apartment and forces Jimmy to tell him what happened. Every time Jimmy tells the story, a grinning Lalo orders him, "Tell me again," clearly not buying what it is that Jimmy is selling. Lalo only leaves when Kim gets involved.

Fans and critics would agree that this was perfect casting, and it's a feeling that goes both ways.
