Top Gun: Paramount Home Entertainment has just officially announced a new collector's DVD edition of eighties mega-hit Top Gun which stared Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan, Anthony Edwards, Tom Skerrit, Michael Ironside and of course Tom Cruise as Maverick, a hotshot student at the titular elite U.S. Navy school for fighter pilots.

This brand new two-disc set will be available on November 16th 2004, and is expected to retail for around $19.99. The film will be presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen, English 6.1 DTS Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and Dolby 2.0 Surround tracks.

Its bevy of extras will include audio commentary from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Tony Scott, screenwriter Jack Epps, consultants Captain Mike Galpin, retired Admiral Pete Pettigrew and Vice Admiral Mike McCabe, six documentaries chronicling the making of the film and its “cultural impact,” from pre-production through its theatrical release and four music videos that defined their era: Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away,” Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone,” Loverboy’s “Heaven in Your Eyes” and Harold Faltermeyer and Steve Stevens’ “Top Gun Anthem”.

Completing the package will be a behind-the-scenes featurette, a survival Training featurette, a vintage Tom Cruise interview, seven original TV spots, and multi-angle storyboards with optional commentary from director Tony Scott.
