While Toy Story 3 hasn't quite earned the same critical praise as its predecessor Toy Story 2, it has earned the highest grossing opening day for an animated film, breaking Shrek the Third's previous record of $38.4 million. Debuting on Friday, the Pixar sequel featuring Buzz and Woody managed to pull in an estimated $41 million on its first day.

Toy Story 3 was distributed to 4,025 screens, playing in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D. At this time, the film is estimated to earn well over $120 million by the time the weekend comes to a close. This is also the best opening weekend for a Disney-Pixar film, a record previously held by The Incredibles, which took in over $70 million when it premiered in November of 2004.
