It was announced late last year that Keanu Reeves has a role in the upcoming Toy Story 4 and people started to get pretty excited. However, it wasn't immediately clear who he was playing in the highly anticipated sequel, though there was a lot of speculation that he would be playing a John Wick-like character. As it turns out, that speculation may have been right on the money, according to sources close to the production. There could be potential SPOILERS for Toy Story 4 below, so read at your own risk.

We've already been introduced to Tony Hale's nervous Forky character from Toy Story 4, but we've yet to meet the Keanu Reeves character. Apparently, Reeves is playing a character named Duke Kaboom, who comes from a place where discontinued toys are sent. Duke Kaboom has been described as a John Wick-type of character and he's on board to help Bo Peep retrieve some sheep that have been stolen from her. That's the only information that has been revealed pertaining to Reeves' involvement in Toy Story 4, but it sounds pretty spot on.

Keanu Reeves confirmed his involvement with the sequel back in December, though he was tight-lipped about specifics. The actor revealed that he had done four tapings with the Toy Story 4 production team, which means that he could have something a bit bigger than just a standard cameo. Reeves had this to say about joining Woody and the rest of the gang.

"I got a call which was really cool out the blue from the lovely people at Pixar and the creators of this number, this edition, or continuation of the story. They pitched the character to me and then we spoke and they allowed me to kind of riff on it."

It has also been revealed that Randy Newman may have written a new song for Toy Story 4, which is titled "Lonesome Cowboy." The musician has won two Academy Awards for his work with the franchise in the past, so seeing him come on board isn't that big of a surprise. With that being said, this information has yet to be confirmed officially at this time, so we'll treat both pieces of information as rumor for now. However, we should get some confirmation soon, since the movie is preparing for release this summer.

Toy Story 4 is directed by Josh Cooley and written by Stephany Folsom, with previous installment writers John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Lee Unkrich conceiving the sequel's story. As is the case with Keanu Reeves' role, not much about the story has been revealed other than the fact that Forky will introduce a new line of thought for the rest of the toys on a new adventure. Hopefully a full-length Toy Story 4 trailer will drop shortly. The Keanu Reeves and Randy Newman news comes to us from The Observer.
