When Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters next summer, it will not only mark the fifth film in this franchise, but it will also mark the 10th anniversary of the first Transformers film. Aside from director Michael Bay, one of the other constants in this franchise is their partnership with IMAX. Before we get a glimpse at the first trailer, a new featurette has surfaced that highlights the franchise's partnership with IMAX, revealing new footage from Transformers 5, long with three new photos.

At first, this video, which debuted on Paramount Pictures' YouTube, seems to only delve through this decade-long partnership between the Transformers franchise and IMAX, with interview segments from director Michael Bay and IMAX CEO Greg Foster and footage from the first four movies. Towards the end of this two-minute video, we get new behind-the-scenes footage with Mark Wahlberg in London, as Michael Bay reveals that they're shooting in IMAX 3D, along with Transformers 5 footage from what appears to be a scene set in medieval times.

There had long been rumors that this story will have some connection to medieval times, which was eventually confirmed with Liam Garrigan signing on to play the legendary King Arthur, and Santiago Cabrera playing the wizard Merlin. Part of this video showcases a number of unidentified actors clad in ancient armor, and what appears to be quick glimpses of a battle scene. There have been rumors that Optimus Prime is seeking an artifact that dates back to the days of King Arthur and Merlin, although no story details have yet to be confirmed.

IMAX's Lorne Orleans also reveals that director Michael Bay is the first filmmaker to take two of their IMAX cameras and configure them to shoot in 3D in real time, a feat which he states is "not trivial." We also get glimpses at some present-day battle scenes, with Michael Bay claiming that they are using all of IMAX's technology to give fans "the best experience" in theaters next summer. Paramount has set a June 23, 2017 release date for Transformers: The Last Knight, which will go up against Sony's comedy Rock That Body.

Transformers 5 brings back Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci from 2014's Transformers: Age of Extinction, along with Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel from the original Transformers trilogy. New stars include Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Laura Haddock and Anthony Hopkins. Take a look at this new preview for Transformers: The Last Knight as we get ready for its release next summer.
