Ever since production started on Transformers: The Last Knight late last month, we've already learned that a few of our favorite Autobots and Decepticons such as Megatron and Bumblebee will be back for this sequel. Today, director Michael Bay took a break from the production to introduce a brand new robot character, Squeeks. The director is seen in the first of two new photos alongside Squeeks and his new co-star Isabela Moner.

We're pretty sure Squeeks is an Autobot, with the director debuting two new photos on his official website MichaelBay.com. Squeeks is a 1960s/1970s Vespa scooter, and since we see what appears to be a junkyard in the back of this photo, it's possible that Isabela Moner's mystery character discovers Squeeks in this automotive graveyard. This image comes just a few days after the Decepticon cop car Barricade was unveiled.

The Last Knight centers on Optimus Prime, who has been searching through the cosmos for the Quintessons, the beings believed to be responsible for the creation of the Transformers race. Meanwhile back on Earth, Wahlberg's Cade Yeager will be facing a new alien threat that brings Josh Duhamel's Lennox (and possibly Tyrese Gibson's Epps) back into duty. Isabela Moner is playing the female lead, though no character details have been revealed. Jerrod Carmichael (NBC's The Carmichael Show) has also come aboard in an unspecified supporting role, possibly serving as this sequel's comedy relief.

Earlier this month, rumors surfaced that reveal Optimus Prime is searching for an "artifact" on Earth that could help bring his home planet of Cybertron back to life. The artifact is reportedly tied to the magician Merlin from King Arthur lore, but these details were never confirmed. However, that report also first revealed that there would be a Vespa named Squeeks, along with another Transformer named Cogman, who has a British accent and transforms into a luxurious Aston-Martin. Since we now have our first look at Squeeks, perhaps we'll be seeing Cogman soon.

Michael Bay is directing from a script by Iron Man writers Art Marcum & Matt Holloway. They are joined by Black Hawk Down writer Ken Nolan on the screenplay. The team were part of Paramount's writer's room that generated several ideas for Transformers sequels and spinoffs. In related news, the Transformers Instagram page has also posted a new video from the set featuring Josh Duhamel returning as Lennox. While the actor starred in the original trilogy, Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, he didn't return for 2014's Transformers: Age of Extinction. Take a look at these new photos and the video from the set of Transformers: The Last Night, arriving in theaters exactly one year from today on June 23, 2017.
