Transformers: Dark of the Moon entered its second full day of release yesterday, adding another $21.5 million to its already-impressive box office tally. The 3D sequel has earned $64.7 million after just two days in theaters.

The movie did slide 43% from Wednesday's opening day gross of $37.2 million, which included $8 million from midnight screenings. The good news is Transformers: Dark of the Moon's second-day decline is less than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's next-day drop. However, the bad news is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had a much larger opening day with just over $62 million.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is on track to earn roughly $165 million through the July 4 holiday, which is well below Transformers: Dark of the Moon's six-day tally of $214.9 million.

Michael Bay's sequel also seems to be bucking the trend of downward 3D grosses. It is reported that over 60% of Transformers: Dark of the Moon's total ticket sales have been for 3D screenings. The movie is also doing well in the IMAX format, taking in $5 million from 146 IMAX theaters.
