Michael Bay's 3D sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon destroyed its competition on the Blu-ray and DVD shelves in its first few days of release. It made a clean sweep topping the Blu-ray sales charts, DVD sales charts, and DVD rental charts, for the week ending October 2.

The home video sweep is even more impressive since Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released on September 30, a Friday, as opposed to the normal Tuesday release. Basically, it sold more units in three days than any other title amassed in the full week. The new release surpassed Bridesmaids, last week's top seller, which dropped to second place in Blu-ray and DVD sales. Transformers: Dark of the Moon knocked last week's top rental, Thor, down to second place. Paramount is one of the few studios which do not impose a 28-day waiting period for Netflix and Redbox rentals.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon completed the home video sweep by taking the top spot on the Blu-ray sales charts in dominating fashion. Over 64% of all Transformers: Dark of the Moon units sold were in the Blu-ray format.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon also paved the way for its predecessors to reappear on the DVD charts last week. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen finished in 10th place on the DVD sales charts while Transformers finished in 13th place.
