While it fell just short of the five-day theatrical record, Michael Bay's sequel did end up breaking another record on the very big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took in a record-breaking $14.4 million over five days in the IMAX format.

The blockbuster's 169-screen IMAX rollout was also a record and the film made a staggering $85,000 per-screen average in the five day period. It was said that the film's IMAX take accounted for 7% of the film's total $201.2 five-day overall gross, although the IMAX version was playing on just 2% of the screens.

The film also said an IMAX single-day record with $3.9 million.
