An idealistic police officer (Casey Affleck) tries to survive in a landscape filled with brutal criminals and corrupt cops in the first red band trailer for Triple 9. We haven't heard much about this action-thriller since actress Gal Gadot sent out set photos from June 2014. Today, we also have the first poster, featuring these masked bandits trying to pull off a heist. This footage does include nudity and R-rated language, so watch at your own risk.
The story follows a group of dirty cops who plan to kill a young LAPD officer to divert attention away from a daring heist they're perpetrating across town. The title Triple 9 refers to police code indicating that an officer needs immediate assistance. Casey Affleck plays Chris Allen, the officer these dirty cops plan on killing, although he ends up surviving and fighting back.
Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet also stars as one of the Russian mobsters who make a deal with these cops, with Woody Harrelson portraying Sergeant Jeffrey Allen. This all-star cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Norman Reedus, Clifton Collins Jr. and Anthony Mackie. This action thriller hits theaters February 19, 2016, going up against Focus Features' Race, EuropaCorp's Shut In and The Weinstein Company's Viral.
John Hillcoat (Lawless, The Road) directs from a screenplay by Matt Cook (Three Seconds). Anthony Katagas, Keith Redmon, Christopher Woodrow, Bard Dorros and Marc Butan serve as producers. Triple 9 was originally set to hit theaters March 4, 2016, where it would have gone up against Grimsby, London Has Fallen and Zootopia.
