Robert Patrick will return to HBO's True Blood as a series regular in Season 6. The actor currently stars on ABC's Last Resort, although we reported last month that the network will not renew the show after its initial 13-episode run.

The actor guest starred in three Season 5 episodes of True Blood as the father of Joe Manganiello's Alcide. Robert Patrick was still under contract at Sony Pictures Television, which produces Last Resort, but he was released from his deal to join True Blood.

We reported in October that Rutger Hauer is joining the cast as another new series regular in Season 6, portraying the mysterious Macklyn. Robert Kazinsky also signed on last month to play a new love interest of Anna Paquin's Sookie Stackhouse.

HBO has not announced when True Blood Season 6 will debut at this time.
