Journalist Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill) meets the accused killer, Christian Longo (James Franco) in the first clip from True Story, arriving in theaters April 17 from Fox Searchlight Pictures. While any meeting between a journalist and an accused killer would probably be rather tense, it is even more warranted in this clip, since Finkel is meeting the man who literally stole his identity, which he used while he was living outside of the U.S. After he is arrested for killing his wife, Longo reveals that the only person he will talk to is Finkel.

Before these events in this true story adaptation took place, Finkel was forced to leave the New York Times in disgrace, after he was caught falsifying accounts of impoverished teenagers in West Africa. Just one week later, the New York Times was embroiled in yet another plagiarism scandal involving reporter Jayson Blair. The plot follows Michael Finkel after his fall from grace at the New York Times, as he meets accused killer Christian Longo (James Franco) - who has taken on Finkel's identity - his investigation morphs into an unforgettable game of cat-and-mouse. Based on actual events, Finkel's relentless pursuit of Longo's true story encompasses murder, love, deceit and redemption.

Felicity Jones, Ethan Suplee, Gretchen Mol and Betty Gilpin round out the supporting cast in director Rupert Goold's drama. Take a look at this new clip to see how awkward Finkel and Longo's first interaction was, before this drama hits theaters next week. Will you check out True Story when it hits theaters next month?
