Lionsgate is teaming up with Twilight author Stephenie Meyer and producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen for the new adaptation Down a Dark Hall.

We first reported on this project back in April 2012, when Stephenie Meyer optioned the 1974 novel by Lois Duncan (I Know What You Did Last Summer) herself. Down a Dark Hall follows Kit Gordy, a new female student at th Blackwood Boarding School, who must confront the powerful headmistress and her supernatural powers, which could make her great or destroy her altogether.

Rodrigo Cortés (Buried, Red Lights) has signed on to direct, working from a script originally written by Michael Goldbach (Daydream Nation), which will now be rewritten by Chris Sparling (Buried, ATM).

Stephenie Meyer is producing with her Fickle Fish Films partner Meghan Hibbett, alongside Temple Hill Entertainment's Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen. No production schedule was given.
