The last we heard about Showtime's highly-anticipated Twin Peaks revival series was in June, when network president David Nevins confirmed in a conference call that they were eyeing a Spring 2017 premiere date for the new series. While we wait for the first official footage from this long-awaited show, Showtime has released a brief trailer that confirms composer Angelo Badalamenti will be back to score the series. Hopefully this video could indicate that the first trailer may be arriving soon.

A report surfaced last year that Angelo Badalamenti would be back to compose the score for this new Showtime series, but this video from Showtime finally confirms the news. This video shows Angelo Badalamenti and his Grammy® Award-winning theme music from the original series, thought to be one of the most distinctive ever created for television. David Lynch even took to Twitter earlier today to welcome the beloved composer back to Twin Peaks, in a tweet which you can see below.

Showtime announced back in April that production has wrapped on the series, while announcing the full cast that is comprised of a whopping 217 actors. Kyle MacLachlan, who returns as FBI Agent Dale Cooper, had been the only actor previously confirmed by the network before this announcement. It was revealed that Madchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, David Duchovny, Sherilyn Fenn, Miguell Ferrer, Sheryl Lee, Peggy Lipton, Harry Dean Stanton, Russ Tamblyn, Ray Wise and Alicia Witt are all reprising their roles from the original series.

Among the notable new cast members are Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Monica Belluci, Jim Belushi, Michael Cera, David Dastmalchian, Laura Dern, Sky Ferreira, Balthazar Getty, Ernie Hudson, Ashley Judd, Robert Knepper, David Koechner, Matthew Lillard, Josh McDermitt, Sara Paxton, Trent Reznor, Tom Sizemore, Ethan Suplee, Jessica Szhor, Eddie Vedder and Naomi Watts. No details have been given for their characters at this time. Written and produced by series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost, the new Twin Peaks is directed entirely by David Lynch, and will premiere on Showtime in 2017, on-air, on demand and over the internet.

One of the most groundbreaking and influential television series of all time, the new Showtime event series picks up twenty-five years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. It still hasn't been confirmed how many episodes the series will be, with David Lynch shooting the whole season off of one massive script, which will be cut into an undetermined amount of episodes. Take a look at this Twin Peaks trailer below.
