Showtime's Twin Peaks revival is easily one of the most highly-anticipated shows that's currently in production, although fans will still have to wait until sometime next year for the show to debut. As production continues on the series, Deadline has word that yet another new cast member has been added, Ashley Judd. While no details were given regarding the character she's playing, the site also reports that another familiar face from the original Twin Peaks will be returning as well.

Warren Frost, the 90-year-old father of series co-creator Mark Frost, will reprise his role as Dr. Will Haywood in a cameo appearance. Mark Frost is also set to have a cameo on the series, with David Lynch also reprising his role from the original show as Gordon Cole. David Lynch is directing and he co-wrote the TV series with Mark Frost, with the writers creating one massive script that will be shot as one long movie. The show will later be broken up into installments after it is shot. At this time, an exact episode count has not been confirmed.

Despite a number of casting rumors, Kyle MacLachlan remains the only confirmed cast member so far. There have been rumors that Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), Miguel Ferrer (Albert Rosenfield) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Brooks) will reprise their roles as well. Amanda Seyfried is rumored to be playing a brand new character, possibly the daughter of Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham). Other rumored new cast members include Balthazar Getty, Robert Knepper, Robert Forster, Peter Sarsgaard, Laura Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Naomi Watts, Tom Sizemore, Larry Clarke, Caleb Landry Jones, James Belushi and Grant Goodeve.

Another recent rumor claimed that Robert Forster may be taking over for Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Harry S. Truman, since the original actor has long since retired from acting. There is also speculation that he may just be playing a new lawman character that has taken over for Truman. Another rumor claimed that Balthazar Getty may be playing an existing character, but no details have surfaced regarding his role, or any of the other new characters. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and with production already halfway done. Showtime recently confirmed that the series won't debut until early 2017.

On the small screen, Ashley Judd most recently starred on the short-lived ABC series Missing.
