The live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal has completed filming. Based on the video game series of the same name, the series is in the works at Peacock for a release exclusive to the streaming platform. Taking to Twitter on Saturday, showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith posted an image revealing that the season has officially wrapped filming. In some follow-up tweets, Smith goes on to praise the project's cast and crew.

"The cast and crew of Twisted Metal was something special," he said. "Even with lightning delays, extreme heat, and cars that wouldn’t do as they’re told, everyone worked as hard as they could to make sure Twisted Metal kicked as much as possible. The last day of shooting felt like the last day of camp, with lots of laughs, a few tears, and ice cream being handed out the back of Sweet Tooth’s truck. We all cannot wait for you to see this insane thing we spent our summer shooting. Now, to post!"

It was previously reported that Will Arnett will be providing the voice of Sweet Tooth, the sadistic clown referenced by Smith who serves as the mascot of the video game series. The show will primarily follow Anthony Mackie in the lead role of John Doe, with other stars including Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, and Neve Campbell. Smith also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Arnett, Mackie, director Kitao Sakurai, and PlayStation Productions' Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.

Twisted Metal TV Show Brings in Deadpool and Zombieland Writers
Sony

Twisted Metal has been described as a "high-octane action comedy" series that's based on an original take by Deadpool and Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The series will include characters based on some of the different unique drivers from the games, but the storyline is not quite the same, as the games typically centered on a deadly demolition derby tournament wherein the sole surviving driver is able to have their ultimate wish granted. A reported logline for the series reads:

Twisted Metal is about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

The Twisted Metal series does not yet have a premiere date but it will be streaming exclusively on Peacock.
