Mitch Putnum, Mondo Creative Director stated the following.
"We decided to approach the Iron Man 3 job from two different directions. First, we wanted a sleek movie poster, and really, when it's anything futuristic or robot-related, Martin Ansin is the first person that comes to our minds. His style just really works with anything 'modern.' Mondo CEO Justin Ishmael also presented an idea about doing an armory poster featuring all of the different suits, and since they're so incredibly versatile, we put Toronto's Phantom City Creative on the job. As is always the case when working with both of these artists, we couldn't be happier with the final product."
The two Mondo artists each had their own inspiration behind their take on Tony Stark's Super Hero alter ego. Martin Ansin offered these thoughts.
"It's Iron Man comics that led me into drawing when I was a little kid. All it took for me to get hooked was an oversized shellhead collection by Tuska in black and white, magic markers, and a week sick in bed. Doing this poster has been amazing luck - and a tough job, with that 5 year old fan keeping tabs on it."
Justin Erickson of Phantom City Creative made the following statement.
"To me, Tony Stark's real super power is his intelligence and ingenuity. With the Iron Man 3 armory poster, I wanted to showcase that by featuring a schematic chart of all the Iron Man suits with Stark himself front and center."
