Tyler Perry is planning to turn his hit Madea character into an animated series with the talented animation company Exodus Film Group. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Perry said his goal was to take the more adult-themed Madea and gear it toward younger viewers. "A lot of the plays were not kid-friendly ... I wanted to do something more appropriate and this seems to be it," he said.

Perry is getting ready to create, write, executive produce and voice Madea in an unknown number of 22-minute episodes for the untitled series. Perry will produce the animated series with Exodus Film Group's Jerome Williams and John Eraklis.

The untitled Tyler Perry project has not yet sought distribution and could go to a television network, to DVD, or to both.
