Zachary Levi is very interested in taking on the role of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie. While the role currently belongs to Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland, the Shazam actor is ready and waiting, just in case that doesn't work out. Though, he has nothing but kind words to say about Holland. In any event, this could be a good option if Sony decides they want to go with a more game-accurate version of the character.

The former Chuck star and current DC superhero was recently a guest at CCXP Cologne in Germany. During a panel, Zachary Levi was asked about possibly playing a character in a video game movie. As it turns out, he actually was pretty aggressive about pursuing Uncharted at one point. Here's what he had to say about it.

"I played the first Uncharted when it first came out, I was like, 'That dude's the new Indiana Jones, I want to be the new Indiana Jones, I'm finding out where the movie rights are,' and I called Naughty Dog, and I got on the phone with whoever, I was like, 'Hi, you don't know me, I'm an actor in Los Angeles, who has the film rights to your video game?' And they were like, 'Oh no, they've already been bought off, it was Avi Arad,' and the whole deal. But 100 percent, that is such a fun franchise, I hope they make that, I still hope they make that. Apparently Tom Holland is attached to be Nathan Drake, a young version of Nathan Drake, he's a very talented and upstanding gentleman, so I wish him nothing but luck. But if that doesn't work out, I would love to be Nathan Drake."

Sony has been trying to turn Uncharted into a movie for years now, yet it's proved to be a tough case to crack. In its current iteration, the plan is to focus on a younger Nathan Drake in the hopes of building a possible long-running franchise on Tom Holland's sturdy, young shoulders. Zachary Levi also spoke a bit about Nathan Fillion, who was the fan-favorite for years, while also expressing his interest in appearing in The Last of Us movie, if that ever gets made.

"Also Nathan Fillion would love to be Nathan Drake, the face is kind of modeled after Nathan Fillion. It's a great role. But also The Last of Us, I mean, they're gonna turn that into a movie too, and that would be an amazing role."

Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) is currently set to direct the movie. He stepped in after Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) exited the project. Other filmmakers such as Joe Carnahan (The Grey) and David O. Russell (American Hustle) also spent time developing the movie over the years.

Meanwhile, Zachary Levi is keeping himself busy, as Shazam 2 is already in the works. He's also set to star in Spy Guys, an action/comedy produced by The Lonely Island. Uncharted is currently set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2020, but we'll see if that sticks. This news was previously reported by Comicbook.com.
