A new poster for Sony’s Uncharted puts the spotlight on the all-star cast set to lead this upcoming video game adaptation. The caption reads “Looking good while stealing $5 billion in treasure counts as a skill, right?” The poster has been unveiled by the movie’s official Twitter account, and suffers from a case of "floating-head syndrome," as Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland stands at the tippy top, with the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, and Sophia Taylor Ali amid the sort of surroundings expected of an action-adventure blockbuster.

Based on one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, Uncharted tells the story of Nathan Drake as he embarks on his first adventure alongside rival-turned-partner Victor "Sully" Sullivan. Starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as the quick-witted, wise-cracking Sully, Uncharted will introduce audiences to the duo of explorers as Nathan Drake becomes the treasure hunter that video game fans all know and love. The plot will see the pair searching for "the greatest treasure never found" while also tracking clues that may lead to Drake's long-lost brother.

Joining Holland and Wahlberg on their adventure are Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer, a fellow fortune hunter, and Nate's love interest; Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, a rival treasure hunter; and Antonio Banderas as the movie’s villain, Moncada, a ruthless and violent treasure hunter who will stop at nothing to beat Nate and Sully in their quest. Additionally, Pilou Asbæk and YouTube personality ElrubiusOMG have also been cast in Uncharted in undisclosed roles.

Tom Holland Has Compared Uncharted to Both Indiana Jones & James Bond

Uncharted promises a big-screen adventure that will fall somewhere between beloved franchises Indiana Jones and James Bond, with the latest poster further demonstrating this ideal. Tom Holland himself has previously compared the project with both Indy and 007, with the actor no doubt thrilled to be able to call upon the two iconic characters while leading the Uncharted movie. "I think the easiest way to describe the film without belittling it in any way is like if Indiana Jones and James Bond had had a baby, it would be Nathan Drake,” the actor said. “That is the way I keep describing the film."

Uncharted has been in the pipeline for far too long now, with efforts to adapt the property beginning way back in June 2016. The adaptation was then pushed to June 2017, before being moved again to December 2020, then to March 2021. The delays continued, as Uncharted was shifted to October 2021, followed by July 2021, and later to February 11, 2022.

Difficulties bringing the video game to life were not limited to the movie’s release, with the studio struggling to find the right director for the job. As explained recently by Tom Holland, “Some of [the directors] came in, and had ideas that we didn’t like, that just didn’t fit the characters, and we had to move on to other people. We took inspiration from everyone. There were very different variations of Drake, and very different variations of Sully. Some people preferred to make the game, some people wanted to make it completely different to the game. It was an interesting process – one that I wouldn’t like to be in again. It’s quite stressful looking for a director.”

Eventually, Venom director Ruben Fleischer was chosen, with Uncharted now due to be released on February 18.
