With less than a month to go, a new TV spot for the upcoming video game adaptation, Uncharted, further teases the old-school adventure romp. Released via the official Uncharted Twitter account, the latest footage teases the globe-hopping, Indiana Jones-esque tone of the adaptation, and shows off a little more of the bickering we can expect from the lead duo, Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

Putting the spotlight on the ensemble cast, as well as a variety of high-flying action sequences, it is this bickering between Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg that is sure to satisfy fans of the Uncharted video games the most. Throughout the Uncharted franchise, Nate and Sully’s back-and-forth banter has always been one of the highlights, and it should delight fans to see that this has not been forgotten when making the leap from pixels to live-action.

Uncharted Will Act as a Prequel to the Beloved Video Game Series

The plan is for Uncharted to act as a prequel to the video game series, and will introduce audiences to Tom Holland as a much younger version of aspiring explorer Nathan Drake. Drake decides to embark on his first adventure after meeting rival-turned-partner Victor "Sully" Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg. Based on Naughty Dog's hugely successful video game franchise of the same name, the movie will establish an early version of Nathan Drake and his partnership with Sully, as the pair slowly become the treasure hunters fans know and love while unraveling one of history's greatest mysteries and treasures in an action-adventure epic that spans the globe.

Venom director Ruben Fleischer is at the helm of this live-action take on the popular video game, with the script coming from Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Starring alongside Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Uncharted features a supporting cast featuring Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, a fellow fortune hunter who is Nate's love interest; Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, a mercenary; and Antonio Banderas as Moncada, a ruthless treasure hunter, and the movie's main villain.

The effort to bring Uncharted to the big screen has been as dramatic as any of Nathan Drake’s escapades, with star Tom Holland recently revealing how difficult a task it was to find the right director. “Some of [the directors] came in, and had ideas that we didn’t like, that just didn’t fit the characters, and we had to move on to other people,” Holland explained. “We took inspiration from everyone. There were very different variations of Drake, and very different variations of Sully. Some people preferred to make the game, some people wanted to make it completely different to the game. It was an interesting process – one that I wouldn’t like to be in again. It’s quite stressful looking for a director.”

Following delay after delay after delay, audiences do not have to wait too much longer to see how well Uncharted has adapted the material. Uncharted is scheduled to be theatrically released by Sony Pictures Releasing in the United Kingdom on February 11, 2022, and then in the United States on February 18.
