Disney Channel mega-star Bella Thorne, last seen in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, has joined the voice cast of the animated foosball comedy Underdogs for The Weinstein Company.
Hitting theaters in April of 2015, Underdogs is an Argentine-Spanish family film from director Juan José Campanella that follows the adventures of a Foosball table that magically comes to life. One of the players must defend his hometown and his girlfriend from a nefarious soccer player, with the animated adventure undergoing a more Hollywood-style revision.
The recently announced American cast also includes pop star Ariana Grande, Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Matthew Morrison (Glee), Katie Holmes (The Giver), John Leguizamo (Chef), Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included), Taran Killam (12 Years a Slave), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) and Chazz Palminteri (Rizzoli & Isles).
Underdogs is not only undergoing an American cast update, its also getting a dialogue retooling as well, with the story being tweaked for domestic audience. Bella Thorne is voicing a young version of the love interest Laura, who will be played later in the film by both Ariana Grande and Katie Holmes.
