Just days after the first trailer for Underworld Blood Wars arrived, we have the first poster as well, featuring Kate Beckinsale as Selene. This iconic character is seen sporting a different look, wearing winter gear as she goes hunting in the woods, presumably for her Lycan enemies. We still have a few months left until the January 6, 2017 release date, so we'll hopefully see much more of this iconic character either on new posters or trailers.

Kate Beckinsale herself debuted this poster on her Twitter page earlier today. This will mark the fifth installment of this beloved franchise, which started in 2003 with the hit Underworld, where Kate Beckinsale played the vampire Selene for the first time. This new installment also brings back Theo James as David from 2012's Underworld: Awakening.

The story centers on vampire death dealer, Selene, as she fights to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. The supporting cast includes Tobias Menzies (Outlander, Rome) and Lara Pulver (Sherlock), who will play new Lycan leader named Marius and a fiercely ambitious vampire named Semira, respectively. Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) is returning as Vampire elder Thomas, along with James Faulkner (Game of Thrones), Peter Andersson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Bradley James (Damien), Daisy Head (Fallen) and newcomer Clementine Nicholson.

Aside from Tobias Menzies, there is also another Outlander connection in Underworld: Blood Wars, with director Anna Foerster. Underworld 5 marks the director's feature debut, after directing episodes of Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, Unforgettable, Army Wives, Madam Secretary and four episodes of Outlander. This sequel will be going up against Amityville: The Awakening when it hits theaters on January 6, 2017.

Anna Foerster directs from a script by Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest), based on original characters created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman and Danny McBride. Lakeshore Entertainment's Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Richard S. Wright and David Kern are producing, along with Len Wiseman, who directed the first Underworld movie.
