Universal has acquired the movie rights to the children's novel The Night Tourist, according to Variety.

Chris Meledandri's new animation and family production company will develop the adaptation for the studio.

Katherine Marsh's young adult novel, published by Hyperion Children's last month, revolves around a ninth-grade classics prodigy who discovers New York's underworld with the help of a girl he meets at Grand Central Station. He discovers many secrets about his pal while searching for a glimpse of his late mother in this secret world.
