Universal Pictures has bought the rights to the thriller, The Moment They Were Waiting For.

The film is based on the Ken Kalfus short story about a killer who is executed, setting in motion a supernatural phenomenon whereby the entire citizenry learns of the date on which they will die, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Matthew Ryan Hoge is set to write the adaptation; John Crowley will direct. No production schedule has been set for The Moment They Were Waiting For.
