Universal Pictures is in final negotiations to acquire Arabian Knights from Blacklight Transmedia and screenwriter Kyle Ward, who is attached to script based on his own pitch.

According to Variety, the story details are under wraps, though the property is described as being radically different from FilmDistrict's Arabian Nights movie, which has Liam Hemsworth attached to star.

Blacklight's Zak Kadison will produce with Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins of Imagine Entertainment.

Universal previously bought Kyle Ward's Fiasco Heights. He also wrote Kane & Lynch, Hitman 2, and is currently penning the game adaptation Devil May Cry.

No production date has been set.
