Universal is going with a hot assistant-turned-writer for their latest project. According to Variety, the studio has picked up the spec script Rites of Men from screenwriter David Herman.

The film revolves around a broken man, a working class single father who seeks out truth and justice when his only son is murdered. The deal marks the second sale in a month for Herman, a former Hollywood assistant. Warner Bros. /warner-bros-sets-up-conviction/picked up his script Conviction last month, which was his first sale.

No producer was assigned to the project as of yet and no production schedule was announced.
