Universal Pictures has picked up the children's fantasy, Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper from Gary Ross' Larger Than Life Productions; Ross will also possibly direct.

Based on the upcoming novel by first-time series novelist Michael Reisman, the book follows an 11-year-old boy and his two friends who get possession of a physics book that enables them to alter the physical properties of the world, including gravity, says The Hollywood Reporter. It describes a magical world based on physical laws of science, and future installments will incorporate other sciences, such as biology and chemistry.

Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper will be published in August; no production schedule has been set.
