Universal has bought the rights to the children's fantasy story, Nightmare Academy.

The film is the first installment from the trilogy of fantasy novels written by Dean Lorey, co- executive producer of Arrested Development; Lorey will write the script that revolves around a boy who learns that bad dreams open portals which allow creatures into the world, notes Variety. The series was originally written for his children.
