In an effort to further distinguish itself, the home video division of Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD) has changed it's name.
In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Visual Entertainment, the original name for UMGD's home video arm, will now be known as Vivendi Visual Entertainment.
This is seen as another step by "the world's largest record company to establish itself as a player in home entertainment circles, something it could never do in the pre-NBC days when it distributed Universal Studios Home Entertainment's rich cache of video properties."
"Video DNA is in our company," said Jim Urie, UMGD president. "It meshes nicely, and since the split we are now free to form our own video company."
