Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has bowed out of the Untitled Bridget Jones Project for Universal Pictures and Working Title Films. Paul Feig had developed the most recent draft of the script, with the intention to direct, although the studios and director agreed to part ways amicably.

Universal and Working Title are still planning on moving forward with this untitled sequel, and now it seems they are seeking a British director for the Untitled Bridget Jones Project. The producers are still hoping for a January production start, and it is believed a new director will be announced shortly.

We reported last month that Working Title Films greenlit the sequel. Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Colin Firth, who all starred in Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, are expected to return.
