The scissors return in the first teaser trailer for Jordan Peele's Us. The tease is literally what it says it is and is very brief, lasting only six seconds and showing us the scissors again with some unsettling music behind it. The trailer for the highly anticipated follow up to Get Out drops on Christmas day and many are hoping that we'll get some more insight as to what the movie is actually about. Additionally we have been treated to some brand-new images from the movie.
One of the images features Us star Lupita Nyong'o's Adelaide Wilson with blood all over her shirt, shackled, a car on fire behind her. She is wearing the same outfit from the picture that was released earlier this week. The other new image is of also of Adelaide, but it has the Wilson children in it and they all look pretty terrified. Details are scarce about Jordan Peele's upcoming movie, but it is giving off a pretty strong cult vibe.
Jordan Peele recently revealed that he wanted to "create a monster mythology" with Us and that the movie will be "more firmly in the horror genre," while also taking the audience on some unexpected twists that the director has become known for. Fans on social media are trying to figure out what's going on in the recently released images and the consensus seems to be leaning towards a cult. That has not been confirmed, but the image of the people in red holding hands at the end of the driveway sure does look a bit like a cult.
Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke star as a married couple in Us and Nyong'o's Adelaide character is paranoid that something bad is going to happen to their family while vacationing at a beach house in Northern California. Adelaide's fears become a reality and Nyong'o says that the movie plays off of her character's biggest fears as well as the audience's, which seems pretty interesting. The actress was not able to go into any further details, but she did mention that she was very happy to get the chance to work with Jordan Peele on the movie.
The full-length Us trailer will arrive on Christmas, but it's unclear how far Jordan Peele will reveal to all of us, which is going to make the wait for the movie seem like it's pretty long. Thankfully, the movie hits theaters on March 15th, so the wait isn't too long. Jordan Peele has a lot to live up to after the amazing success of Get Out, and all eyes are going to be on him when Us is released. So far, the director is doing an excellent job of getting us all hyped up for the movie. You can watch the teaser trailer for Us below, thanks to the Universal Pictures YouTube channel.
