Far Cry: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boll KG has picked up another video game title, building on the company's growing reputation for bringing interactive entertainment properties to the big screen.
Director-producer Uwe Boll will turn German game developer Crytek's first-person shooter PC game "Far Cry" into a $25 million horror movie that is planned to shoot next year. Even though the Ubi Soft Entertainment title doesn't ship until March 23, it already has garnered a great deal of public attention.
Company sources report that the "Far Cry" PC game demo has been downloaded 1.5 million times in its first month, for example.
"There are elements of 'The Island of Dr. Moreau' in this game thanks to the tropical setting and the genetic experiments that are taking place on the island," said Shawn Williamson, who will produce the film with his Brightlight Pictures. "The story will be incredibly frightening."
