Filmmaker Uwe Boll has revealed his next project. After a five-year hiatus, the director and producer is working on a new feature film called First Shift, a crime drama following a New York City police officer and his rookie partner, Angela, during a 12-hour shift on the city's dangerous streets. Starring in the film as the NYPD officers are Gino Anthony Pesi (Shades of Blue, Ambition) an Kristen Renton (Sons of Anarchy, Days of Our Lives). The film also stars Onye Eme-Akwari (Outer Banks), Willie C. Carpenter (Men in Black), Garry Pastore (The Irishman), and Cate Bottiglione (Law & Order: Organized Crime).

The film is described as a "gripping tale that captures the essence of life as a cop in one of America's busiest cities. From the mundane to the dangerous, viewers will experience an intense day in the life of law enforcement officers." Boll says that he was aiming to "show both sides of the coin" with how to tell the story of First Shift.

“It was important for me to show both sides of the coin – the exhilarating moments as well as those that can be quite heartbreaking,” says Boll. “Showing the audience the difficulties of forming strong relationships, while enduring stressful experiences, this film expresses the realities that can occur. I’m looking forward to getting back in the director’s chair with this incredible cast.”

Sharing some additional details about her character, Renton added, "My character Angela is really trying her best to find her place in this world she doesn't understand yet - but she's determined and brave enough to take on whatever comes her way. I’m excited to begin shooting a Uwe Boll film in New York.”

Boll wrote the script for the film, which he's also directing. The filmmaker is also producing via Event Film alongside Ari Taub's Brooklyn based Hit and Run Productions.
