The Talisman: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vadim Perelman, who wrote and directed "House of Sand and Fog" for DreamWorks, has fallen out of The Talisman, the studio's co-production with Universal Pictures.

According to a DreamWorks spokesperson, the "decision was mutual" to part ways on the film. "The studio remains committed to finding the best team for a film of this scope," she said. Perelman signed on to direct "Talisman" -- a longtime pet project of Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy based on the 1984 fantasy novel by Stephen King and Peter Straub -- in October.

Spielberg and Kennedy have been developing the project for nearly 20 years. Ehren Kruger wrote the screenplay.
