A unique narrative thriller managed to beat out two new comedies to reign supreme over home video this past week. Vantage Point, despite being a movie about a U.S. President being shot, and released on the Fourth of July week, made some fireworks on the DVD charts, taking the top spots in DVD sales, rentals and high-def sales.

The disc did have some hearty competition, though, in two newbie comedies. Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns came in a very close second place on the sales charts and sixth place on the rental charts. Drillbit Taylor scored a fifth place spot on the sales and second on the rental charts.

On the high-def side, Vantage Point dethroned 10,000 B.C., which swept all three categories last week, to take over the Blu-Ray sales charts, completing its own sweep.
