Be warned, Major SPOILERS for Stranger Things Season 4 lie ahead...

Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower has offered a heartfelt apology to both fans of Eddie Munson and actor Joseph Quinn himself. Shared to social media by the official Netflix account, melancholy music plays over Jamie Campbell Bower’s sincere words as he communicates his regrets over what happened between his character, the villainous Vecna, and the beloved Eddie Munson.

“Hello, everyone. My name is Jamie Campbell Bower. And today...I'm here to apologize. I know a lot of people are mad at me. But my apology isn't just for you. It's for the main victims of all of this. Joseph?”

Eddie Munson star Joseph Quinn is then bought into the fray, and Bower looks him in the eye as he offers his sorrow for taking his life. "I’m really sorry about that." He even offers his apologies for killing Chrissy saying, "I also want to apologize for Chrissy as well,” before giving Quinn a giant bouquet of flowers, which Quinn gracefully accepts.

The apology is sure to be welcomed by fans of Stranger Things, as many feel that the sacrifice and death of Eddie Munson was a mistake, with many still weeping over the fan-favorite character’s death. Introduced at the beginning of Stranger Things Season 4, Eddie is the charismatic leader of the Hellfire Club; a Dungeons & Dragons group that includes both Dustin and Mike. After being present at one of Vecna’s many murders, Eddie spends most of the series on the run from the law and vigilante justice.

The final moments of Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 gives Eddie one of the most triumphant moments in the show so far. Climbing atop a caravan in The Upside Down, Eddie wields his guitar and launches into Metallica’s Master of Puppets in order to distract the hive mind of Vecna. Becoming the hero he never thought he could be, Eddie is sadly killed by the monstrous bats that inhabit The Upside Down, and audiences have been weeping ever since.

Eddie Munson has had a significant impact on Stranger Things fans, with a petition calling for him to be resurrected for season 5 now reaching thousands of signatures. While Eddie rising from the grave is unlikely (though who knows what mysteries lie within The Upside Down), The Duffer Brothers have revealed that, at the very least, his sacrifice will have "huge repercussions" amongst the surviving members of the Hawkins gang.

Though the Stranger Things siblings have not yet started work on series 5, they revealed that they will put pen to paper soon. “We're going to take a little vacation in July, and then we're going to come back. I know that the writer's room is going to start in that first week of August,” The Duffer Brothers said recently.

Starring a large ensemble cast that includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Matthew Modine and Paul Reiser, both volumes of Stranger Things Season 4 are now available to watch on Netflix.
