One of the earliest innovators of showcasing movies on the web has gone corporate.

In a story from Home Media Retailing, "Viacom Inc. is bringing Atom Entertainment, a digital powerhouse for casual games, short films and video, into the fold."

This deal will give Atom Films $200 million and bring them under Viacom's "MTV Networks umbrella." houses "short-form comedy and animated films, as well as user-generated content."

Viacom CEO Tom Freston sees this as the companies "continuing strategic initiative of reaching fans across media platforms."
