Yesterday was 20th Century Fox's turn up at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and part of their presentation included Victor Frankenstein. Now Empire Magazine has released the first two official photos from this twist on the classic Mary Shelley horror fable. The film is directed by Paul McGuigan, known best for his work on Sherlock, and it is written by the often outspoken Max Landis, who has become more known as a celebrity than a screenwriter after making waves with the superhero movie Chronicle.
The first image shows stars James McAvoy as the mad scientist who creates the monster, and Daniel Radcliffe as his put-upon assistant Igor as they wait for their next shot on set. The second image shows Dr. Frankenstein hard at work inside his lab as the camera rolls on his mad creation. About the experience of making the movie, and the story itself, James McAvoy states:
"As much as the monster is his creation, Igor is his creation as well. That was quite exciting. It's funny, the script, but also really dark, in a cool way."
This thriller follows I, Frankenstein and arrives along with the Carrie-Anne Moss, Xavier Samuel and Danny Huston-led Frankenstein as Hollywood continues its mad love affair with this particular classic monster tale. This time out, Paul McGuigan is focusing more on the relationship between Dr. Frankenstein and Igor, with the assistant getting more of a spotlight than he ever has before. The film hits theaters in time for Halloween this year, arriving on October 2. It also boasts a strong ensemble with Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott and Freddie Fox joining in on the fun.
