Vin Diesel is very excited this morning, and he has released a new video on his personal Facebook page to dance about it. He wants to thank fans for making Riddick the number one DVD in sales this month, and announced that Universal wants to develop a sequel.

Here's what he had to say, thanking his longtime fanbase for their support of the R rated franchise adventure, which landed on Blu-ray and DVD January 14th. (Warning, you have to get past about 3 minutes of Vin dancing and lip-syncing before he drops the news).

"I'm just excited, and happy, and I'm shouting out to you guys to say thank you. Universal just called me and told me Riddick is number one on the DVD charts. There's no way Riddick would have been made without you guys. You know that. and you guys have been a part of our page since 2012 and remember how arduous a road it was to get the movie made, and to make it rated 'R,' and to do it with such a low budget. It's a win for all of us and I really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I'm excited, and of course, Universal also says they want to develop the next one."

Universal has released no official statement that a Riddick sequel is in the works. Nine years passed between The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick as the actor and his director/co-creator David Twohy struggled to get this latest saga made. There is no telling how much time will pass between this release and the next one, but it shouldn't be as long of a wait.
