With Fast X looking to be one of the most star-studded movies in the franchise, a new image shared by Vin Diesel has provided a look at his character getting cozy with Brie Larson, while also setting in motion speculation that her character could be linked to a former star of the series. Work is continuing on the penultimate movie in the Fast and Furious following the departure of Justin Lin earlier this month and the addition of Louis Leterrier as the new director, and the recent wave of behind-the-scenes images suggests that things are moving along nicely.

As the tenth movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, it is hard to imagine where the film could go that the series has not gone before, but with a host of new stars joining the franchise for the two-part finale, it is clear that Vin Diesel plans to see the main series go out with a bang. As well as Larson, other newcomers for Fast X include Jason Momoa as a central villain - who appears to be teaming up with Charlize Theron’s returning Cipher - Daniela Melchior and Alan Ritchson.

Vin Diesel’s new image was shared on his Instagram and marks the first photo of Brie Larson in character. Alongside the post, Diesel commented, "There are some people you will meet in life…. That will change you, change your family… change the world, FOREVER!.” This seems to suggest Larson’s character means something to Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, and fans already have a theory that this could be the sister of Brian O’Connor, the character played by the late Paul Walker.

Having a Connection to Paul Walker in The Final Fast & Furious Movies Seems Likely

Vin Diesel has always made it clear that working on the Fast Saga is like working with family, and the tragic death of Paul Walker in 2013 was a significant loss to the franchise. However, there have been some signs that Walker’s character could have a part to play in the new movie, with Cody Walker having been seen on set. Of course, Paul Walker’s brother Cody acted as a stand-in to complete Furious 7, and as Walker’s character Brian O’Connor is still alive in the world of Fast and Furious, it could be possible that Diesel wants to include the character in some way in the conclusion of the franchise.

If O’Connor does feature in a small role, it could be to help introduce Brie Larson as the character’s sister, as has been suggested by many long-time fans of the movies. At the moment, despite Vin Diesel sharing a lot of behind the scenes images and videos, there is a lot still to be learned about the movie, and over time we will find out for certain whether these theories turn out to be correct, or if Larson’s character has a different “family” connection in Fast X.

Fast X will make its theatrical debut on May 19, 2023, with the conclusion of the franchise expected to follow in 2024.
