Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is moving along at a pace and that means that Vin Diesel is back in the studio to record some new voice-overs for fan favorite Groot. As everyone knows by now, the character of Groot is well known for only ever uttering the three words “I am Groot,” but that doesn’t mean that Diesel completed his work on the character years ago. There is a lot of work that goes into those three words, with different feelings, ages, and more, and Diesel is working on yet another version of the endearing tree.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will bring back the current team for what is expected to be one final time with this particular line-up. That team includes Chris Pratt as Star-Lord/Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, and, of course, Vin Diesel as Groot. Who will be back in the future is something we will have to wait and find out, but from what has been said by director James Gunn and others, it is certainly going to be an emotional outing.

For the moment though, Vin Diesel is definitely having fun recording his new lines for Groot, and of course, once again we could be seeing an older version of the character to the one seen last in Avengers: Endgame. Commenting on his Instagram post, Diesel wrote, “Wow, from the Iron Giant to Groot. Blessed and grateful. Great job everyone. Know the family will love what we did today for The Groot universe."

While there are plenty of hints that the Guardians’ run is coming to an end, there is more than just the third solo movie to look forward to in the next couple of years. The next time we see some Guardians team will be this summer in Thor: Love and Thunder. Since the God of Thunder took to the skies with the Guardians at the end of Avengers: Endgame, there were questions about their involvement Thor’s fourth solo movie and as of yet we still don’t really know how Quill and his group will fit into the story.

After their stint in Thor: Love and Thunder, there will be the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which is expected to arrive just before Christmas this year and will pave the way to the third movie next summer. Sometime before that, Groot will be taking center stage in his own animated spin-off series, I Am Groot, which is also expected to feature animated versions of other members of the Guardians team.

Like all upcoming Marvel Studios movies and shows, details are few and far between on any of these upcoming offerings, but one thing for certain is that fans of the Guardians are in for a treat as they head into their biggest year as part of the MCU.
