Will he or won't he show up in the new Hawkeye series? That's what many Marvel fans have been wondering about Vincent D'Onofrio, who played the supervillain Kingpin in the Daredevil series at Netflix. For three seasons, D'Onofrio starred opposite Charlie Cox as the titular superhero, and many fans have been hoping to see these characters appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As of now, neither has been seen as either of these popular characters since Daredevil ended after three seasons.

Here lately, there have been rampant rumors of Daredevil characters showing up in the MCU, and while they might not be from the same timeline, they'll have the same actors in the roles. There has been speculation that Kingpin will appear in Hawkeye, and it does seem like a good time for him to arrive, as Alaqua Cox debuts as Echo in the new series. Kingpin is the adoptive father of that character in the source material, so it's possible that he could serve a similar role in Hawkeye, unless they're saving that for Cox's own Echo series.

In any case, a lot of fans are convinced Vincent D'Onofrio will be in Hawkeye at some point. That remains to be seen, but one fan tweeted an image and tagged D'Onofrio, asking if that was him in the photo. It's alleged to be a photo leak from Hawkeye, although it is not exactly convincing, leaving the actor looking more like the cartoon version of Kingpin than the one we saw in Daredevil. It was amusing enough to capture the attention of D'Onofrio, who offered a response to the picture by writing, "Well it's a really bad job from someone trying to make it look like me. This guy in the pic is more handsome I think."

D'Onofrio is well aware of the rumors of his Hawkeye involvement. As has been the case with Charlie Cox saying he's up to return in the MCU, D'Onofrio has also been open about his desire to bring back Kingpin. He previously spoke about the fan interest in his return in a Screen Rant interview. The actor noted at the time, "I do take [the fan excitement over the rumors] as a compliment. I so badly want to play that character again. I love that character. I just have to wait for Marvel to ask me. I think it's very clear that I would, and the fans know that I would jump at the chance to play again. I just need to be asked."

More recently, D'Onofrio got the rumor mill swirling once again when he hyped up the Hawkeye series, tweeting ahead of its premiere, "This is going to be fun." Is it going to be fun because D'Onofrio loves the Marvel shows on Disney+ as much as the rest of us? Or is he perhaps preparing to see the return of his character play out in the new series along with the fan response it will certainly bring? We'll have to keep watching Hawkeye to find out. You can find the series streaming on Disney+.
